Today was a great day for the Bulldogs as Don Eichenberger won the award for Arkansas Assistant Principal of the Year. The entire bulldog family was in on the surprise as Eichenberger accepted his award at an assembly in front of students, facutly, and school board members.
“It’s very humbling because it’s an honor that’s not really just for me, it’s for everybody that works here,” Eichenberger said. “I’m just a small part of the staff here at Springdale High School that works it’s tail off every day to try to help all of our students achieve to the highest levels they can and to be successful in everything they do in life.
“On behalf of all of them, I accept the award and in all humbleness, they’re just wonderful and I’m proud to be a part of that team.”
Eichenberger has worked for the district for 37 years. It is his eighth year as an administrator.
“In this business, you don’t stay very long if you don’t care about kids,” he said.
